Twitter’s Security Need to Improved

Few days ago I have wrote about Twitter’s 3 Big Mistakes and I hope they can fix the problems. What I have predicted is become reality now. Where an administrative employee here at Twitter was targeted and her personal email account was hacked. Read the complete story on Twitter’s official blog.

Twitter is simple micro blogging, with an easy interface and easy to access format is insecure place. Twitter and Facebook have same way to access users email and connected to these social networking media.

For “bad people” this “leaks” is an open door for their access. Yahoo recovery password is enough for this bad people to access and get more information from the email account. Imagine if you have all of your important information in your email account, e.g. Password, Bank Account and PIN, Credit Card information, etc.

Twitter still the save place for now, since that was a personal hack attacked. Twitter not the target yet, and I hope not. But this is a valuable warning for us as Twitter user. Protect yourself is the fast and easy way to do right now.

1. Now it’s time to protect your self before it happened to you. Use a strong password, use letters and numbers and make it long type password. Don’t use your birthday or home address or phone number as your password. Use a random letters and numbers.

And save it on your PC or your journal. Keep that file offline. And make sure no one else know about it.

2. Second step, make your email password different from your Twitter password. Some people use the same password for different account on different website/ blog. This is an easy way to remember for some people, but this is insecure way to protect your important accounts.

3. Change your Password periodicly. This is unconvenience way. But this way will save your accounts and your secret informations.

4. Use genuine Anti Virus and Operating System. Those 2 softwares will protect your PC, laptop and your mobile phone if needed. Updating your anti virus and scan all files and folders periodically.

There so many ways to protect your accounts. But those steps are the easiest way as basic steps for people who use internet.
